February 16 - March 1
Various lane ways, Little Bourke Street, Chinatown

Beyond the Chinese dumpling doorways, there’s a quirky bar culture down Chinatown’s laneways.

Discover a new laneway ambience at New Gold Mountain and Double Happiness in Liverpool Street, Section 8 in Tattersalls Lane, Croft Institute in Croft Alley and Longrain at Punch Lane. Free entry.

Section 8, in a Tattersalls Lane car park, is formed from shipping containers and pallets. The informal inside-outside feel encourages interaction with the urban environment.

Croft Institute draws its ambience from an old-school science lab. Its cocktails are as colourful as the famous graffiti located down Croft Alley.

The Hemingway Daiquiri is a favourite at New Gold Mountain, while the Double Happiness Maoist backdrop is an unexpected setting for a bubble cup cocktail. Both are in Liverpool Street.

Longrain, one of Melbourne’s favourite Thai restaurants, has an extensive bar menu. But there’s a lot of fine dining to be experience beforehand in their large dining room.

RMIT School of Art has created the lighting installations down Chinatown laneways... Go explore Chinatown one evening!
