Sovereign Hill's annual celebration of Chinese New Year is set to take place on Sunday 22 February. Get set for a colourful and authentic start to the Year of the Sheep, as Chinese lions and dragons, acrobats, drummer and dancers entertain throughout the day.

See Chinese acrobats perform amazing feats with the diablo (an ancient spinning instrument), ribbons and plates at the Victoria Theatre. Stick around because there'll also be the chance to try lion dancing yourself. At the other times in the theatre there will be tai chi demonstrations and performances by Shen Pangeng, an internationally renowned musician, performer and teacher.

Head to the Chinese Camp to have your name written in calligraphy and to find out how people lived in the camp during the gold rush. A traditional Chinese ceremony will also be held at the Chinese temple.

Once again, this special day of entertainment will be staged in conjunction with the Chinese Australian Cultural Society Ballarat.
