Visit the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and explore China Up Close. Through a deeply rich program of exhibitions, talks, films and workshops – at ACMI until 15 March – witness how China's burgeoning economy has influenced its culture, moving image art and cinema.
Enjoy stunning visions from China's pre-eminent moving-image artist in a free exhibition, Yang Fudong: Filmscapes. Take in a talk by prominent Chinese-Australians speaking about what it's like growing up within two cultures. Or check out the augmented reality 'fingernail bar' that explores fashion and technology in completely new ways.
The celebrations ramp up on Chinese New Year, when you can learn how to make a lantern, enjoy Chinese animations or take advantage of the exhibition's extended opening hours.
ACMI is opposite Flinders Street Station, or you can catch the free City Circle Tram, tram numbers 1,3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67 or 72 to stop 13, or numbers 48, 70 or 75 to stop 5.
